On Sunday, April 6 at 18:00 CET, Science for Democracy is hosting a webinar on Accessing Reproductive Rights and the Right to Science.
The following experts and activists in different areas of reproductive health rights will join us:
Isabel Stabile, FRCOG., Ph.D.: Full Professor at the University of Malta and an activist with Doctors for Choice, as well as the only openly pro-choice gynecologist in Malta. She has been at the forefront of innovations in medical education in the UK and the US, where she worked for 20 years. Prof. Stabile is the author of over 80 publications in peer-reviewed literature, including seven books. She is a mother of four adults, and a grandmother of three.
Silvia Kalantari, M.D.: Clinical geneticist and researcher at the University of Pavia, Italy. Her work focuses on diagnosis and management of monogenic conditions, with a special interest for women’s reproductive rights in the prenatal setting. She is a board member of the European Society of Human Genetics Young committee and has been voted to serve as chair of the committee from June 2025.
Melissa Cockroft: Global Lead – Abortion with the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). She is a sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) technical and programme management specialist with more than 16 years’ experience working in Africa and Asia. She has worked for a range of local and international organizations including International Planned Parenthood Federation, MSI Reproductive Choices, PSI, UNFPA and FHI360. She is based in Nairobi, Kenya.
Tina Tomšič: Organizer and activist with the European Citizens Initiative “My Voice, My Choice”.
Laura Convertino, M.D., Ph.D.: Academic Clinic Fellow, King’s College London and President of Science for Democracy
The webinar will last 1.5 hours and will have dedicated time for questions from the audience. Soon after the webinar, the My Voice, My Choice campaign will be submitting their collected signatures to the European Parliament. You can sign the petition here.
